Writing Workshop in New York City
Published April 13, 2010
We just finished The Writing Workshop in New York City and I’m happy to report it was a success! We had two workshops at P.S.1 that brought in lots of lovely participants and some great writing responses… UnionDocs turned out to be the perfect venue for what ended up a being a kind of mini Festival of Writing…
Our days at UnionDocs were filled with installation, film, screenings, audio, writing, reading…. we had an super8 duel screen film and audio installation by Jessica Foley and two screenings of Susan Thomson’s film Fire Practice Theatre... we also transformed the back garden into the setting for a chicken wire creature sculpture by Aine Ivers and a text painted window by Jessamyn Fiore- both of which when lit at night looked stunning (the creatures shadow grew large dominating the back white wall)... on Saturday there was a live reading of a Play About Lee Lozano by Jessamyn Fiore- thanks to actors Ben Spradley, Dechelle Damien and Heather cardinale for doing such a good job bringing the characters to life! Also big thank you to Audrey Kombiashi and Victoria Keddie as well as the staff at UnionDocs for all their help. For images and details visit www.thewritingworkshop.wordpress.com The New York Branch of the Writing Workshop now has a full roster of new potential members and will begin shortly… and so the next chapter begins.x
