No Soul for Sale Continues! (the rest of Friday and the start of Saturday)

Now that we have come back to Dublin, and got over the exhaustion, here’s some more of what we got up to in London. But where to begin with all the things that happened over our weekend at the Tate? Maybe with Friday when we spoke about Thisisnotashop on the stage of the Turbine Hall or when Wendy Judge met Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry. He was very impressed with her sculptures, though at the end of the day, he said he did prefer ceramics! With the hoards of people preening themselves in front of Kathryn Maguire’s mirror. Or maybe with the folk enamored with Robert Carr’s elm pieces, many of them taking long indulgent sniffs of the charcoal after admiring the sheen of its polished lines. To mention little of many people who wanted to hug Clive Murphy’s giant inflatable after the shock of realising something that big was made from bin bags! The writing workshop bookshelf/tower also continued to entrall the visitors to the Tate, with a constant stream of people reading, writing and sharing the pieces. Night time at the Tate was really special, the gigs were happening up front, while down on the exhibition floor, the bustle of the day subsided and it lit up and we felt like we were at a music festival. And, how could we forget, Clive Murphy getting prize after prize for his good ideas at the Royal Standard!
