No Soul for Sale Comes to a Close
Published May 25, 2010

On Sunday evening the word was that 140,000 people visited No Soul for Sale 2010. The Tate may be used to having that many people file through its doors, but it still it led to a lively few days in the Turbine Hall. Thankfully, Sunday was a little calmer than Saturday and by the time we began the de-install at six we had regrouped ourselves enough to get everything back into the van. We had all sorts of visitors from the great to the good, with many of them wondering if we were a commercial gallery. One sound artist (he worked with sound…..and he was sound) that I spoke to called Dave, (He was hugging Clive’s Inflatable because it had the most ‘amazing drone’) also asked if were we a commercial gallery, he said he wondered because we had so many beautiful things! Saturday night felt even more like a festival than friday with some thisisnotashoppers sharing some drinks around Wendy Judge’s Meteor. The line up for the evening’s performances included DJ Spooky and Cosey Fanni Tutti along with a stunning closing set from Thurston Moore. It was the perfect wind down to what had been a mad few days. A few of us also got to meet the very tall man himself. He even signed the Arts Council rejection letter that Wendy Judge got for her funding application to take her work to Tate Modern!!
Sunday, also threw up lots of nice little surprises, trolleys full of free beers after the visitors had gone home, presents form other gallery spaces and after his great success with them, Clive was presented with a congratulatory plaque by the folks at the Royal Standard!
“Everything is ‘Up’ ” is currently being presented at the The Back Loft, La Catedral Studios. It runs from today 25th May untill our Closing Party on Thursday Night, 27th May.
