Jessamyn Fiore

Director

Jessamyn Fiore was raised in the New York City art world and attended Sarah Lawrence College where she focused on playwriting and international peace and conflict studies. After graduating in 2002 she moved to Ireland and founded The Road Show Theatre for which she wrote two productions, The Mysterious World of Birds (2003) and SANDWICH (2005). Her plays have been produced in Galway, Dublin, London, Edinburgh, Prague, and New York City.

In March 2007 she became co-director of Thisisnotashop Gallery. She founded the Writing Workshop at Thisisnotashop with Jessica Foley in July 2007. Working with Aideen Darcy to curate the overall gallery program, she has also curated three major exhibitions for the gallery- Gordon Matta-Clark FOOD (DEC 2007), Fluxus with Larry Miller (MAY 2009) and Thisisnotashop @ No Soul For Sale, X Inititative in New York City (JUN 2009). Jessamyn became the sole Director of Thisisnotashop in June, 2009.

Jessamyn completed an MA in Art in the Contemporary World at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin, Ireland in 2009. She founded the New York branch of The Writing Workshop in April 2010.

Michael Kynaston

Director (Ireland)

Michael Kynaston graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2008 with an MA (Hons) in History of Art. He has particular interest in 20th century and contemporary art.

He has previously worked at the Talbot Rice Gallery in a number of roles. During his time at the Talbot Rice Gallery Michael worked on a number of exhibitions including: David Batchelor - Unplugged; Lucy McKenzie - Ten Years of Robotic Mayhem; Jamie Shovlin - Aggregate; Monika Sosnowska - Display; and Alex Pollard - Black Marks. Michael’s work has included invigilating the exhibitions, installation/packing up, and marketing the gallery. In November 2006 Michael spent a short spell at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden, Aberdeenshire, working as an assistant to Alex Pollard, as he worked on the bronze medallions for his exhibition, Black Marks, held at the Talbot Rice Gallery.

Michael has also regularly contributed art reviews to Skinny Mag in Edinburgh, and runs his own website of art reviews and news at www.michaelkynaston.com

Aideen Darcy

Founder/ Co-Director 2006- May/2009

Aideen Darcy founded Thisisnotashop in January 2006 with Marius Stanley. She has been the visual arts curator at the Dublin Fringe Festival since 2007 as well as worked for The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival 2008/09 and Thisispopbaby at The Electric Picnic 2008. She graduated with an MA in Visual Arts Practices from IADT in 2008.
